Corner Gallery Styled Shoot

Full disclosure: Sometimes when you plan shoots, it's because you have a specific look in mind that you just NEED to share; Sometimes you find an awesome salad plate or center piece or even just a napkin ring and you're like YES, this HAS to happen... then the brainstorming and over-shopping begins. Lots and lots of over-shopping...

But other times, you find a sweet beyond measure new photographer that you can't wait to work with. Cue Raygan Michelle Photography! Raygan really is one of the most genuine people that I've ever met. And she's a blast to work with! I realize this shoot is being blogged three months later, but since then the JLE team has worked with Raygan numerous times and she's already grown so much as a photographer!

Anywho, back to the shoot: I knew going in that I wanted a venue that hadn't been used before. Which is so hard to find in Hampton Roads!! Is it too much to ask for a place with tons of natural lighting, an open floor plan, awesome decor, oh and no one has ever used it before? Well I was insistent. Eventually I stumbled upon the Corner Gallery and fell in love with the owner, Anne, and the rest is history. And ironically enough, I did find awesome napkin rings that I based most of the design around. However, they didn't make it onto the table in the end... it happens hah.

The overall concept of this shoot was for an intimate family-style reception. Modern, romantic, and playful with geometric accents, bold pops of color, and soft feminine touches. I didn't want to take away from anything the gallery already to offer, i.e. custom wood tables, modern seating, or hello the entire wall of incredible art work! I also wanted to make sure everything stayed as cohesive as possible, which is a lot harder than most people would think. But the vendors all rocked it out! Vellum invites from PaperDolls Design paired perfectly with the romantic, almost whimsical table display I put together with linens from Waterford. You can never have too much flowing chiffon or crinkled gray fabric!! Geometric accents in the dinnerware played off the detailing in the cake from Whipped Up by Mimi which played off the patterns in the artwork which played off the jewelry on our bride. 'Sangria' napkins paired beautifully with raspberry colored dhalias and anemones from Studio Posy and that killer lip color that Dhalia Edwards blended just for us. And I was able to throw in hammered metal and marble to add an extra edgey twist... I mean our bride had a braided faux hawk for crying out loud. If that isn't edgey then I don't know what is! Thanks Stephanie B for giving my hair envy for the rest of my life hah.

I'm so excited to finallyyyy be sharing this shoot!
